Kim Scudera

Kim Scudera is a classically-trained singer who has been singing in public since her debut in third grade in "Singin' in the Rain”. Kim is a featured vocalist with the Brazilian/American group Batida Diferente, and has performed with World’s End Jazz, the Anderson-Wingo Project, the Columbia Jazz Combo, and with TKD Jazz.  She has appeared at Twins Jazz, Mr. Henry’s, 49 West, Corner Store Arts, Claudia’s, Urban Eats and Epicure Café, and at numerous festivals and fundraisers in the DC area.

Kim has written lyrics to Wayne Shorter’s “Ana Maria” (in Spanish), John Coltrane’s “Naima”, Miles Davis’ “Nardis”, Horace Silver’s “Nica’s Dream”, Tom Harrell’s “Sail Away” and English lyrics to Baden Powell’s “Canto de Ossanha” and Caetano Veloso’s “So Seu Sabiá.” Her version of Bobby Troup’s “Route 66,” titled “I-66,” is a big hit in the DC area. Kim has also written numerous lyrics on ecological themes – her song on the use of the dichotomous key is used in botany instruction for Virginia Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners.

 

 

Chip Smoley

Pianist Chip Smoley has been playing jazz and standards in the Washington DC and Rehoboth, Delaware areas for many years. His group, Bluejazz has greeted numerous flights into Washington, honoring the WWII veterans. He has collaborated with a number of singers on concerts for retirement home libraries and community centers. Other performances have been for restaurants, community celebrations and private parties.

Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday and their contemporaries and followers are his favorites. He knows and loves their repertoire, as well as more contemporary blues and jazz songs that tell a story and uplift the spirit.

Jeff Cooper

Jeff Cooper has been a professional bassist his entire adult life. From jazz to rock, classical to pop and musical theatre, Jeff has performed at the Kennedy Center, National and Ford theaters, Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts, and in Baltimore at the Hippodrome Theater. His variety band, Tuxedo Junction, performed extensively at Presidential Inaugural Balls, corporate and private parties, weddings, and society galas throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area. In 2005, Jeff began his Broadway career as principal bassist for "The Woman in White," "LoveMusik," "Ragtime" and "Evita." In 2016 Jeff expanded his musical talents with his jazz-influenced duo "Notes on the Beach," playing at Rehoboth, Bethany, and Ocean City restaurants, clubs, and private events. A native of Washington, DC, Jeff is a graduate of the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD.
